REPUBLIC STREET DEPARTMENT Kevin Lewis, Jeremiah Jones, Fred Prisk, John Walles, Darrell Jackson, Doug Short, and Stacey Grooms (not pictured) Missouri LTAP's Road Scholar Program
The primary purpose of the Road Scholar Program is to train skilled personnel within the Missouri local transportation and public works agencies. The program provides training to increase knowledge of local public works and road systems and improve administrative, supervisory, technical, and worker skills. Training is provided by professional instructors from LTAP, MoDOT, and APWA. Classes will be offered at multiple locations across Missouri at least once every two years. Attendance is tracked and certificates are awarded for completion of each class. Road Scholar Certificates are awarded three times per year at statewide conferences by the Missouri Association of Counties, Missouri Municipal League and the Missouri Association of County Transportation Officials for completion of the required courses. In addition, an awards ceremony can be scheduled at the graduate’s place of employment with a member from the Road Scholar Program partnership to present a certificate. The program will allow participants to attain two levels of achievement: Road Scholar I and Road Scholar II. Participants will be required to meet the requirements for level I before completing level II. Road Scholar II is intended to train personnel for supervisory and administrative positions. Employees of all Missouri public entities are invited to participate in any section of the Missouri LTAP, “Show-Me” Road Scholar Program. GETTING STARTED
